Overview

UI Calibrator is a browser extension that helps you visually calibrate front-end elements directly on the page. This policy explains what the extension accesses, what remains local, and the limited information used for checkout and license validation.

When the Extension Activates

UI Calibrator only injects into a page when you click the extension action button in your browser toolbar. It does not run automatically on every page.

Browser Permissions

  • activeTab — Grants temporary access to the current tab when you click the extension action so UI Calibrator can inspect the rendered page.
  • scripting — Injects the calibration UI only after your explicit action.
  • storage — Saves calibration states, Trial balance, and the minimum local License state required for activation and periodic validation.
  • https://uix.mellnx.com/* — Allows the extension background service to contact the Mellnx License proxy for activation and periodic validation and to submit Feedback reports. Buying opens the hosted Creem checkout in a new browser tab via navigation and does not require host permission. The extension is not permitted to contact the Creem API directly.

Data Stored Locally

The following information is stored in chrome.storage.local:

  • Saved calibration states and element fingerprints
  • Trial export balance
  • License Key, Creem instance ID, product ID, and validation timestamps after activation

Calibration states, element fingerprints, Trial balance, exported CSS/JSON, page content, and page URLs are not sent to the License service.

License Activation and Validation

When you activate or periodically validate a License, the extension sends only the License Key and a Creem installation instance identifier to the Mellnx server at uix.mellnx.com. The server forwards the minimum required values to Creem using a server-only merchant API key and returns a limited validation result to the extension.

The merchant API key is never included in the extension, public source code, browser storage, or client-side logs. No DOM, page text, screenshots, calibration geometry, exported content, browsing history, or target project data is included in License requests.

Checkout

Selecting Buy opens a hosted Creem checkout in a separate browser tab. Payment and billing information are entered on Creem's checkout and are processed by Creem as the payment provider. UI Calibrator does not receive or store your card or bank details.

Feedback Reports

Submitting Feedback is optional and user-initiated. The extension never uploads diagnostic events, browsing information, calibration state, or page information in the background. You may submit a report anonymously. If you choose to add an email address, it is included only as unverified contact information so support can reply manually; UI Calibrator does not send automatic messages to that address.

When you submit a report, the extension sends the message you entered plus bounded technical diagnostics (fixed event types such as lifecycle, target selection, gestures, and save/restore/export outcomes; no DOM, page text, form values, screenshots, cookies, or License data). Including the page address is opt-in and limited to the origin and pathname, without the query string or fragment. Reports are delivered by email through an email delivery provider and kept in the support mailbox for at most 90 days; the provider retains sent message data according to its own documented policy (currently 30 days). The application does not persist or log your raw IP address beyond the in-memory rate-limit window; feedback submissions are subject to an application-layer rate limit (5 requests per minute per IP) to prevent abuse, and the IP is not used for any other purpose. You may request deletion of a report by referencing its report ID or the contact address you provided.

You may optionally attach up to 3 PNG or JPEG images to a report. Attachments are added only by you, compressed locally before sending, embedded in the support email, and retained and deleted under the same policy as the report (at most 90 days). Automatic diagnostics never include screenshots.

Data We Do Not Collect

  • No telemetry or analytics
  • No DOM content, page text, or calibration results; screenshots are received only when you attach them to a Feedback report yourself
  • No browsing history or target project source files
  • No advertising identifiers, device fingerprints, or hidden tracking
  • No third-party executable code loaded into the extension

Cleanup

When you close the calibrator on a page, its overlay elements, preview styles, event listeners, and temporary page state are removed. Uninstalling the extension removes its browser-managed local storage according to browser behavior.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the extension or its payment and License services. The effective date will be revised when the policy changes.
