Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 1, 2026
Overview
UI Calibrator is a browser extension that helps you visually calibrate front-end elements directly on the page. This policy explains what data the extension accesses, how it is stored, and what is never collected.
When the Extension Activates
UI Calibrator only injects into a page when you click the extension action button in your browser toolbar. It does not run automatically on any page, and it does not activate in the background.
Browser Permissions
- activeTab — Grants temporary access to the current tab when you click the extension action. This allows the extension to read the rendered DOM of the page you are actively viewing.
- scripting — Used to inject the calibration UI into the active tab after you click the action. No scripts are injected without your explicit action.
- storage — Used to save your calibration states and trial/license status locally in your browser. This data never leaves your device.
Data Stored Locally
The following data is stored in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) and never transmitted:
- Saved calibration states (element positions, geometry adjustments)
- Trial export count
- License activation status
Data We Do Not Collect
- No telemetry or analytics
- No DOM content, page text, or screenshots are uploaded
- No calibration results or export data are transmitted
- No URLs, browsing history, or project information are collected
- No cookies or third-party tracking scripts
License Activation
When you activate a license, the extension sends your license key and a local installation identifier to the license service for validation. This is the only network request the extension makes, and it occurs only during license activation or periodic re-validation. No page content, DOM data, or calibration information is included in this request.
Note: License activation is not yet available. This section describes the intended behavior and will be updated when the license service is live.
Cleanup
When you close or deactivate the calibrator on a page, all overlay elements, preview styles, event listeners, and temporary state are removed. No persistent modifications remain on the page.
Third-Party Services
UI Calibrator does not embed or load any third-party JavaScript, analytics, or tracking services. Payment processing (when available) is handled by a separate hosted checkout page and does not run inside the extension.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the extension's functionality. The effective date will always be updated. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
